What Is A Chemical Facial Peel?
A chemical peel removes the surface layers of the skin, creating a smoother, fresher-looking skin surface and erasing wrinkles. The deeper the peel, the more extensive the skin renewal. Medium and deep peels stimulate collagen renewal, resulting in firmer skin and diminished wrinkles.

What Skin Care Types Can Have Chemical Facial Peels?
Both light and medium peels are considered safe for people with all skin colors. Aging skin has a greater buildup of dead skin cells, which can create a dull look and clog pores. Light peels are very effective at counteracting this problem. Deep peels are not suitable for darker ethnic skin types.

How Long Does The Treatment Take?

Light and medium peels take from thirty to sixty minutes, and are performed without anesthesia. A deep peel often takes two hours, and a painkiller or light sedation is needed.

What Is The Downtime Or Recovery Time?

There is little or no downtime for light peels. For a medium-depth peel, you will need to take at least four to seven days off work, while a deep peel entails at least two weeks of downtime.

What Are The Risks Involed With Facial Chemical Peels?

Both medium and deep peels carry risk of scarring because the chemicals can burn the skin if they are left on for too long. The risk is most significant for a deep peel. Deep peels may cause a permanent change in skin color; the face takes on an irreversible pallor. Postoperative infections can cause unexpected complications.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

A light peel typically requires repeated applications. For a medium or deep peel, one treatment usually suffices. In general, the deeper the peel, the longer the effect. A light peel must be repeated regularly, while a medium peel will last up to a year. A deep peel will create permanent results, although new wrinkles may form.
