What Is Laser Liposuction? |
 |
Laser Liposuction is a powerful, minimally invasive way to melt away unwanted fat, while toning and sculpting your body. Using energy from advanced laser technology, Laser Liposuction targets and destroys fat cells, while promoting skin tightening in the surrounding areas. With Laser Liposuction, there’s no general anesthesia required, and patients will experience less bruising, swelling and bleeding than is typical with more aggressive, traditional liposuction treatments. The first well known laser liposuction device was called Smart Lipo. We now use a variety of brand names in our offices. |
| |
| How Does Laser Liposuction Work? |
Sophisticated lasers deliver energy to targeted fatty tissue, dissolving the fat cells while promoting the production of new collagen. The liquefied fat is suctioned out immediately, and tissue continues to tighten over the coming months as new collagen is formed. During the procedure, the heat from the laser also causes small blood vessels to coagulate on contact, which minimizes bruising and bleeding.

How Is Laser Liposuction Different Than Traditional Liposuction? |
| |
Laser Liposuction offers some significant advantages over traditional liposuction techniques. Patients undergoing traditional liposuction often require general anesthesia and weeks of downtime to recover from the aggressive and traumatic treatment. And while traditional liposuction can remove unwanted fat, it does not promote skin tightening, meaning some patients can be left with loose and sagging skin after treatment. With the Laser Liposuction technique, there’s much less trauma to the body, significantly less bruising and swelling, and less downtime for the patient. The laser encourages new collagen production, leading to better overall body sculpting. And because there’s no need for general anesthesia, there’s less medical risk with Laser Liposuction. |

What Can Be Treated With Laser Liposuction? |
| |
Laser Liposuction is ideal to treat small areas of stubborn fat that can’t be eliminated through diet and exercise. Laser Lipo can help reduce fat and tighten skin in the abdomen, thighs, knees, chest, arms, breasts, hips, neck and chin. |

How Is The Laser Liposuction Procedure Performed? |
| |
After the treatment area is marked, your doctor will infuse a numbing fluid directly into the fat layer through a very small incision. The laser is introduced through a tiny tube called a cannula. Once the fat is treated with the laser, the doctor may suction the liquefied fat from the body. For most patients, the procedure takes about an hour for each body area treated. Many patients can drive themselves home after the procedure and return to work as soon as the following day. |

What Kind Of Results Can I Expect? |
| |
Laser Liposuction achieves excellent, long lasting results. Improvement can be noticed immediately following the procedure, and skin tightening will continue in the coming months as new collagen is formed. And because the fat cells are permanently destroyed and removed, no new fat will be deposited in the treated areas.
